After Hours Boo Bash

It is Spooky Season and there are so many ways to celebrate in Central Florida, but the most magical way is Magic Kingdom’s After Hours Boo Bash! We have previously gone to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party which was probably our favorite After Hours event at Disney, so we had high expectations.

Obviously, this is a new event and we are in a different situation with regards to social distancing so it is hard to compare the two so we will just share our experience and leave it up to you to decide what you think!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019

It was a dark and gloomy night…no, just kidding! It was dark when our evening began at Magic Kingdom, but it wasn’t long before the night sky was lit up by the fireworks from the newly debuted night show, Disney Enchantment. We were huge fans of Happily Ever After, but appreciated the message of Enchantment and liked hearing new songs!

Once the fireworks finished, we had a little bit before Boo Bash began…so we grabbed a snack, imagine that! We were fueled up and ready to go. This is a paid event which means that it is not tied to a general park pass, it is an extra payment. With that being said, you do not have to have a park pass in addition to the Boo Bash ticket. We are passholders but enjoyed this event with family and all they had to do was by the Boo Bash event ticket. With that ticket we were able to enter Magic Kingdom at 7pm even though the event didn’t start until 9pm.

It amazes me how Disney manages this, as with most process they have it is a fairly straightforward and effective system. Once you enter, you get a wristband to show that you have purchased Boo Bash tickets. Then, when the event officially begins at 9pm, guests without wristbands are directed to the park exit and those with wristbands can begin the fun!

Be sure to grab an event map that is full of helpful information!

During this event you are able to ride rides, try new themed snacks, trick or treat, watch parades and cavalcades, as well as eat as much popcorn, mickey bars, popsicles as your heart desires and stomach allows.

We made sure to hit up some of the classic rides that typically have longer wait times, including Haunted Mansion. After riding some rides and finding some snacks, we staked out spots for the cavalcades. What I really appreciated was that on the map times and routes were given for each of the cavalcades and shows. There were typically two showings of each parade which was helpful if you wanted to hop on a ride. Tip: Put the times for the cavalcades in your alarms on your phone so you know when to stake out a spot!

The event wraps up at 12am, we were able to ride multiple rides, eat too many snacks, and watch all of the cavalcades in that time which was fantastic. On our way out of the park we stopped in the Emporium to check out the merchandise and pick up a couple of items!

Overall, we had a great time! Our favorites were the snacks and the cavalcades because those are specific to the event.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
