Our Visit to Harry P. Leu Gardens
In this post we are featuring a 49 acre oasis in the middle of Orlando, Florida: Leu Gardens.
Earlier in the year we became members of Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida. With this membership there are reciprocal gardens and attractions throughout the state, Leu Gardens being one of those gardens. So, we packed up in the car to head into the City Beautiful! Driving through the city streets we came upon the entrance to the gardens and were greeted with a stately visitors center pictured above. We grabbed a map and a fun Alphabet Scavenger hunt that became the focus of our visit.
The alphabet scavenger hunt took you throughout the grounds finding plants that were listed on the checklist. On the opposite side of the paper there was a map with the locations of the plants...we found that out later into our search! Also, each plant had a marker as seen above which was very helpful.
This hunt had us hungry and in need of a sweet treat, so we were happy to see a cute popsicle stand in the middle of the park. Peak Season Pops had a fun menu that did not disappoint. We tried the Watermelon Lime and The Hulk...both were delish!
As we continued our expedition, we found some gorgeous spots.
After about an hour and a half we found all of the plants A-Z! This was a great way to spend a first visit to help guide us through the gardens. We cannot wait to go back to explore even more and even the Museum that they have on property.
